About Us

Alp Technologies is a renewable energy engineering start-up based in London focusing on developing renewable energy technologies for low-income countries.

Since its founding in 2015, it has won many innovation awards and funded R&D projects on advanced battery storage systems, AI in predictive maintenance, waste to energy generation, and power electronics and control systems. We aim to leapfrog fossil-fuel based energy infrastructure in lower income nations using renewable energy based on local circular economy principles.

Team

Following the principles of Bauhaus-E, we take a holistic root cause point of view in everything we do. An engineering solution is founded upon a solid business case; and a solid business case depends on human behaviour.  All these must be considered together.  Therefore, the company was created to bring together seasoned engineering, design, and business development professionals to design and build a new generation of renewable energy technologies.

Our multi discipline team takes advantage of previous experience in industrial production, transport, energy, and finance. The team follows our unique and proven Bauhaus E philosophy and always considers the human behaviour behind the business case to design solutions.

Alp Energy Justice Framework

1. Energy as a human right. Treat renewable energy as a basic human right and as the rightful foundation to food security, healthcare, education, social mobility, justice and bedrock of civil society.

2. Electrifying transport is not a panacea for the climate crisis.  EVs are even less so. Less than 100M people can afford to own EVs by 2030, in other words, 7.9B people will not.

3. Batteries do better outside of cars.  Batteries outside cars to store renewable energy are more effective in reducing GHG and addressing climate crisis.  75%+ of energy consumption is outside transport.

4. Prioritise displacing diesel generators. $100B per year is spent to fuel diesel generators. Switching to battery with renewables from diesel generators is the lowest ‘hanging fruit’ to address climate crisis and energy access for people most impacted by it.

5. Build an intelligent 21st century electric grid.  Local renewable energy with batteries to leapfrog the electricity grid like it is the 21st Century!  Similar to mobile phones, microgrid with batteries in developing regions will leapfrog giant power lines similar to mobile phones in Africa leapfrogged the need for telephone landlines.

6. Local infrastructure for local people.  Local renewable energy infrastructure and local energy storage solutions are pivotal to transition from fossil fuel.  2B people in the world use less than 2kWh of energy usage per day, therefore, a 300W solar panels and a small 5kg battery system will produce enough energy per person per day.

7. Decarbonise precious minerals extraction. 100% renewable energy for rare earth and precious minerals extraction using energy storage. Most rare earths and precious minerals are located in developing regions in Africa, Asia and South American. These battery materials currently uses significant fossil fuel to extract and process; ironically, using renewable energy with battery storage will decarbonise battery production as well as provide the much needed clean energy infrastructure and jobs to these underserved regions.
